What is the
Widowed Persons Organization™ (WPO)?
The WPO is not
a grief recovery group. We are the “next stage”
past that. The death of a spouse is one of
life’s most traumatic events. It is an event
that can best be understood by those who share
this unique journey. We believe, however, that
out of despair can come hope, out of sadness can
come joy, and out of grief can come growth. We
further believe that the finest way to honor our
loved ones is by reaffirming our own lives. The
purpose of the WPO is to provide support,
understanding, compassion and companionship to
those persons who have lost a spouse through
death. Numerous churches and other organizations
offer grief support programs, but our purpose is
different. Our main goal is to bring people
together for mutual friendship and provide
opportunities to make new friends and get out
and do things together. Our organization
requires no membership fees or dues. We will
publish a monthly newsletter reporting on the
activities of the group and local events that
may be of interest to our members. The WPO also
provides information on other resources
available to widowed persons in the community. |
